Minimum Qualifications To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
If a viable eligible list does not exist, a provisional appointment may be made in accordance with Civil Service Law. Candidates who accept a provisional appointment must take the next competitive examination and be reachable on the resultant eligible list in order to be considered for permanent appointment to the position.
The minimum qualifications for taking the examination are: You must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had 45 days of permanent competitive, non-competitive, or 55-b/55-c service in an office assistant, clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional*** title allocated to Grade 6 or higher.

• Only the title of titles listed are qualifying. *** Only paraprofessional titles in an office environment will be considered qualifying. Service in a direct care title is NOT qualifying. Examples of NON-qualifying titles are: Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, Direct Support Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, Mental Health Therapy Aide, and Security Services Assistant.
In order to be eligible for a provisional appointment, candidates must have one year of service described in the Minimum Qualifications for taking the examination.
Duties Description - Prepare and Conduct New Employee Orientations
- Initialize New Employees in LATS
- Transactions - RTC for Regions 4 & 5
- Back up for OA3 (HR) (HBA) - Back up for front desk and mailroom
- All other duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in personnel/human resources. Proficient in NYSTEP, LATS, HRIS. Proficient in working with multiple databases. Skilled in Microsoft Suite
Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
