Minimum Qualifications One year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator; OR, two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.
Duties Description This position will be responsible for tracking work orders and weekly accomplishment reports being input into the Maintenance Management System (MMS) and assist in compiling the annual work-plan. They will hike long distances to inspect and maintain infrastructure items in remote locations (i.e. culverts, signage, trails, bridges, etc.), maintaining health and safety manuals throughout the Region, assist in recruitment efforts and support Region 4 Operations. Candidate may be responsible for tracking and maintaining inventory of DEC assets, including buildings and the emergency response database.
Position will require the applicant to learn a basic knowledge of building systems and to communicate building issues and work with landlord when maintenance issues arise. Must have basic computer skills - proficiency with word, excel and scheduling meetings. Will be responsible for ordering supplies, materials and receiving deliveries and delivering supplies to field offices. Will assist in tracking training records and schedule trainings as needed. They will work with Regional Sustainability Coordinator on projects including annual reports, events, garden maintenance and hosting Regional meetings.
Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2025, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.

Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Travel may be required.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
