Minimum Qualifications One year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator; OR, two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.
Duties Description This position is responsible for supervising field staff and handling the documentation, ordering, and inventorying of supplies and materials. Supplies and materials must be loaded and transported to field crew headquarters, as well as remote projects. The candidate will be working on the sustainability team on expanding participation and projects within the Region. The candidate will be a working supervisor leading students and volunteers in support of I Love my Park Day, Outdoors Day, Earth Day, and other public participation events. Will be responsible for constructing and maintaining pollinator gardens and composters at all Region 4 campgrounds and regional facilities. This position will focus a considerable amount of time on sustainability project development and supervision, collecting and compiling data for the annual Green NY report and participate with the Green NY council as requested. This position will be responsible for tracking work orders and weeklies being input into the Maintenance Management System (MMS) and assist in compiling the annual work-plan. Must be able to hike long distances to inspect and maintain infrastructure items in remote locations (i.e. culverts, signage, trails, bridges, etc.). This position will be responsible for maintaining health and safety manuals throughout the region, assist in recruitment efforts and support the Region 4 recreation program; learn basic knowledge of building systems and communicate building issues and work with the landlord when maintenance issues arise, and have basic computer skills - proficiency with word, excel and scheduling meetings.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
