Duties Description • Assist with the high stakes deployment of AI products across all sectors of ITS.
• Develops and reviews project definition and scope for each sector.
• Support the development, implementation, and ensures frameworks are established for the continuous improvement of data and AI governance frameworks, standards, procedures, and tools across New York State agencies.
• Partner with agency data owners, stewards, subject matter experts, and ITS colleagues to document data assets, business use cases, roles, responsibilities, and governance requirements.
• Assist with data inventory, metadata, cataloging, and data quality activities, including maintaining governance documentation, business definitions, and related records.
• Help coordinate Data and AI Governance Committee activities, prepare materials, track decisions and action items, and support follow-through on governance priorities.
• Contribute to governance maturity assessments, metrics, and reporting by identifying gaps, tracking adoption of governance practices, and supporting recommendations for improvement.
• Analyze and test recommendations.
• Support training, outreach, and stakeholder engagement efforts that promote responsible data and AI use and strengthen data governance practices across all sectors.
Minimum Qualifications Eight years of data analytics, business systems analysis, or AI governance experience; one of which must be at the supervisory level. An associates degree can substitute for one year of experience; a bachelor’s degree for four, master’s for one, and a PHD for two.
Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. Some positions may require fingerprinting.
If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary.
